Small Sideboard

Sometimes less is more and when it comes to incorporating a small sideboard into your décor, truer words were never spoken. The sideboard buffet comes in many sizes and shapes as well as materials. It’s often used in dining rooms as well as in eat-in kitchen areas. No matter the size, large or small, sideboard furniture can serve a number of various functions that both enhance and simplify a homeowner’s lifestyle.

Some of the ways a small sideboard can be utilized in your home are:

Organization – if your small sideboard has a drawer or drawers, neatly place your fine silverware, larger serving utensils, napkins and other table linens in them for quick and easy access.

Storage – if there are doors or larger drawers in your buffet, store your serving ware such as covered casseroles, chafing dishes and silver carafes and other pieces inside.

Display – if your small sideboard has an upper display area of either open shelving or glass door covered shelving, place your fine china, fabulous stemware and other beautiful items on them. This area looks especially lovely when lit up from either above or below.

Buffet Service – your small sideboard is a perfect place to set out your lunch or dinner buffet. Be sure to use various heights of serving dishes to add visual interest. Along with food filled dishes, you can also use your sideboard buffet top to place mixers, ice and other cocktail necessities for both sit down dinners as well as parties and other gatherings.

Liquor Storage – don’t have room for a bar? Then either display your bottles of wine or alcohol on top of your sideboard furniture or store it in a cabinet below. This is also a great place for barware such as bottle openers, aerators and bottle stoppers. Another great tip for wine lovers is to purchase a small wine rack and place it atop your sideboard buffet top which will keep the bottle handy as well as display them beautifully.

Small sideboards can be found in many different materials and combinations of materials such as wood, metals, glass, acrylic, granite and tile to name a few. They are a stylish, functional and sensible addition to your home’s décor. Speaking of décor, no matter your tastes in it, from traditional to contemporary, a small sideboard can be found to coexist beautifully with the current furnishings in your home.
